The coronavirus test report of the five
players of the Indian team surrounded in violation of the Biosciences Rules of
Melbourne Restaurant Controversy in Melbourne has come negative. All players and support staff of Team India
were RT-PCR tested on Sunday 3 January to check for coronavirus, the report of
which came on Monday 4 January. Test report of all the players has been
negative. This is a big relief for Team
India, as it will end the isolation of Rohit Sharma, Rishabh Pant, Navdeep
Saini, Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw.
The Indian team will leave Melbourne for Sydney on Monday.
On 1 January, five Indian cricketers, including Rohit Sharma, went to an indoor restaurant in Melbourne. During this time, an Indian fan made a video of the players without their knowledge and also paid their food bill. This fan posted this video on Twitter and said that Indian players took pictures with him. This fan also claimed that Rishabh Pant embraced him, but he changed his statement as the controversy escalated. After this video came to light, Cricket Australia had isolated five Indian players and started investigating the possible biosecurity protocol violations.
Corona test of everyone on Sunday
In such a situation, it was decided to
conduct the corona test of all the players just before leaving for Sydney. ANI quoted the Board of Control for Cricket
in India as saying that all the players were tested on Sunday, the report of
which came on Monday. BCCI said in its statement,
“The Indian cricket team's players and support
staff were tested on RT-PCR for Kovid-19 on 3 January 2021. All test reports have come negative. "
Players focus only on Test preparations
According to the report of the ANI, the
Indian players are not upset with the reports coming in the media regarding
this matter and the team is fully focused on the preparations for the third
Test. Indian team sources said,
“Boys have kept themselves away from the
world and they are not even paying attention to who is saying what. We stand on our stand that no protocol has
been violated. Our entire focus is now
on the third Test to be held in Sydney.
With the third match ending in Sydney, we want to do the series 2–1 in
our favor. ”
1-1 is equal to series
The 4-match Test series is currently
1-1. Australia won the first Test match
of the series in Adelaide by 8 wickets, while in Melbourne, the Indian team
returned to the second match and won by 8 wickets and made the series 1-1. Since this test, both teams have been staying
in Melbourne and will leave for Sydney on Monday.
