About Jakarta
Srivijaya Air, a flight from Indonesia's
capital Jakarta, has crashed into the sea.
Indonesian transport minister Budi Karaya confirmed the plane crash,
saying flight number SJ182 had been an accident 20 kilometers from Jakarta
Airport. The plane had 50 passengers in
addition to 12 crew members. The
aircraft has crashed near Laki Island, Indonesia.
Pictures
of the wreckage of this plane were becoming viral in Indonesia's social media
several hours ago. However, there was no
official confirmation of the crash of the aircraft then. Earlier in 2018, Indonesia's Lion Air flight
crashed into the sea, killing 189 people.
This aircraft is 26 years old
According to the aircraft's registration
number, the 26-year-old Boeing 737-500 series being reported as missing is of
the aircraft. Which flew from Jakarta's
Socarno-Hatta Airport on Saturday evening.
Air traffic control lost contact with the aircraft only four minutes
after takeoff. Since which search and
rescue operations were started
Government's silence on the number of casualties
The government of Indonesia has maintained
silence on the number of people who died in the accident. Relief and rescuers have reached the site of
the accident, but they have not found any survivors yet. An official said that only after researching
the bodies of the passengers will the government be able to tell anything about
the number of dead.
Aircraft came down 10 thousand feet in 1
minute
FlightRadar24 tracked the aircraft down to a
height of 10,000 feet in just one minute.
After which the possibility of any untoward had increased. If an aircraft comes down so fast, it
increases the chances of crashing.
Budget airline is Srivijay Air
Srivijay
Air is a local budget airline of Indonesia.
Which provides air services to Indonesian and other Southeast Asian destinations. The company said it was still gathering
information about the flight. According
to the report, the aircraft is not Boeing's 737 Max, which has been involved in
two major accidents in recent years.
Indonesia's flight crashed in 2018 too
In
October 2018, a flight of Indonesian Lion Air crashed into the sea. In which 189 people involved in the aircraft
were killed. The aircraft was also a
victim of an accident at sea 12 minutes after taking off from the capital
Jakarta.
Boeing's 737 MAX aircraft has been in controversy
The
aircraft which has gone missing from Jakarta is also being described as
Boeing's 737 series, although it is not Max.
Max has been raising questions about the safety of the aircraft even
before. The news even came that Boeing
is considering to stop production of this aircraft.
What is the problem in this plane
The biggest problem lies in its engine. Even though fuel is saved, the engine itself
may reduce its speed and cause the ship to shut down. To overcome this problem, the company has
deployed a software named MCAS. But many
times this software also gives wrong instructions, due to which the chances of
crashing the ship increases.
